Tattoo aftercare is perhaps the most important part of the tattoo process once you've gotten it! Follow the instructions given only by your tattoo artist and not by anyone else.
1. Second skin. Keep second skin for 4 days, then take it off, wash your tattoo with warm water and soap . Better to use an unscented and dye-free antibacterial soap to keep your tattoo clean. Then moisturize with cream or lotion 2 times per day during 3 weeks. Better to use unscented skin cream or lotion .
NEVER use "petroleum jelly".
If you feel itchiness don’t scratch it, just moisturize you tattoo more. Don’t go to gym at least for 1 week, no saunas and swimming pools for 2 weeks, and try to avoid sun for next 3-4 weeks.Quick lukewarm showers are fine, but not baths.Do not drink alcohol for twenty-four hours following the tattoo.Your tattoo may peel for a while after 4th day . This is just old skin and some bits of excess ink and is normal. After your tattoo stops peeling, you may notice the skin will be sensitive, glossy and dry - this is normal. To help your skin recover faster, continue moisturizing with body lotion rich in vitamins A & D twice a day until your skin returns to it's normal condition.Once your tattoo is healed use a sun block with a minimum rating of 40 SPF.
2. If you allergic to second skin, or smth happened with second skin, or if you prefer to heal with cream and diper. After tattoo is finished, keep the bandage on for few hours, or keep it on overnight . The next morning - wash your hands, remove your sterile bandage, and wash the area with warm, soapy water. Better to use an unscented and dye-free antibacterial soap to keep your tattoo clean. Then Gently pat the area dry with a clean paper towel. Do not rub the skin.Apply a very thin layer of cream for healing as often as needed to keep the tattoo moistened at all times. Do this for the first four days (remember to wash hands and tattooed area every time before applying ointment)DO NOT bandage with film. Use dog/baby diapers. Your tattoo needs to breathe; however, DO protect your tattoo from any bacteria getting on the area and avoid direct sunlight. After four days, switch to an unscented skin cream or lotion . NEVER use "petroleum jelly".
Important Notes:
Test any product you use on another part of your body first to avoid an allergic reaction on your tattoo. If you notice any signs of allergic reaction, infection (pus, redness, and the swelling) or increased bleeding at the site of the tattoo, you should contact your artist first).
